Parameter estimation and identifiability in a neural population model for electro-cortical activity

Plos.org

by Agus Hartoyo, Peter J. Cadusch, David T. J. Liley, Damien G. Hicks

Electroencephalography (EEG) provides a non-invasive measure of brain electrical activity. Neural population models, where large numbers of interacting neurons are considered collectively as a macroscopic system, have long been used to understand features in EEG signals. By tuning dozens of input parameters describing the excitatory and inhibitory neuron populations, these models can reproduce prominent features of the EEG such as the alpha-rhythm. Читать дальше...

Differential sustained and transient temporal processing across visual streams

Plos.org

by Anthony Stigliani, Brianna Jeska, Kalanit Grill-Spector

How do high-level visual regions process the temporal aspects of our visual experience? While the temporal sensitivity of early visual cortex has been studied with fMRI in humans, temporal processing in high-level visual cortex is largely unknown. By modeling neural responses with millisecond precision in separate sustained and transient channels, and introducing a flexible encoding framework that captures differences in neural temporal...
