News from NZ Police One person has died following a crash on the Desert Road in the Waiouru Military Area. Emergency services were called around 11.45am and the road was closed till mid afternoon. The crash involved two vehicles and several people were injured. Two helicopters were dispatched from Taupo and one from Palmerston North.
