Police chiefs of seven northern states to hold meet against drug abuse

The Haryana Police will organise a meeting of police chiefs of seven northern states and Union Territory Chandigarh here on June 26 to evolve strategies for fighting drug abuse and trafficking, an official said Monday. Haryana's Director General of Police Manoj Yadava said that a co-ordination meeting of the DGPs of northern States to discuss challenges of drug abuse and trafficking, and strategies to combat the same would be held here on the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Tadvi suicide case: Court rejects bail pleas of 3 doctors

A special court Monday rejected the bail pleas of three senior doctors of a civic hospital arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of a junior colleague. Special court judge P B Jadhav, while rejecting the pleas of Hema Ahuja, Bhakti Meher and Ankita Khandelwal, said there was a likelihood of the accused persons absconding or tampering with evidence. The trio are in jail from May 29. Payal Tadvi (26), a second-year postgraduate medical student attached to the BYL Nair Hospital, allegedly committed suicide in her hostel room on May 22. Supreme Court rules for FUCT in trademark case

The US Supreme Court ruled in favour of the clothing brand FUCT in a free speech case on Monday, saying the name could be trademarked. The nation's highest court, in a 6-3 decision, struck down a federal prohibition on the registration of trademarks deemed to be "immoral or scandalous". The court held that such a prohibition violates the First Amendment right to free speech. Justice Samuel Alito said barring the FUCT trademark amounts to "viewpoint discrimination." As reported by Avi Rabina on Twitter, at a hafgana in Jerusalem today, protesters were trying to save one of their friends and fellow protesters from being arrested. They were trying to scare off the police by calling out "Autist", as if warning the cops to lay off that guy because he is autistic. This is in light of the recent hafgana in which police beat up an autistic kid.
