J-K: 1 arrested after video showing man being beaten mercilessly goes viral

One person was arrested and three others were booked on Monday for keeping a man in illegal confinement and beating him mercilessly in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district, officials said. A video of the incident, purportedly showing a middle-aged man, kept confined and being brutally thrashed by some people, has gone viral on social media, they said. Maha forms panel for allotting houses in Bandra govt colony

The Maharashtra government has appointed a five-member committee to work out modalities for allotting houses to state employees at the Bandra Government Colony, the Legislative Council was told Monday. Replying to a question, PWD Minister Chandrakant Patil said the panel would frame rules to determine the eligibility of employees as well as the amount of money to be charged from them. SFIO finds extreme misuse of corporate structure in Bhushan Steel case

The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) Monday filed a 70,000-page complaint in the Bhushan Steel case wherein the probe agency has found "extreme misuse" of the corporate structure by the promoters which reduced corporate governance requirements to paper formalities, sources said. Three boys drown in quarry pond

Three eight-year-old school boys drowned in a pond attached to a quarry at Madukkarai on the city outskirts Monday. They had gone to take bath in the pond late in the evening, police said. As the children did not return home, the parents went in search of them and also informed police and fire and rescue department, they said.
