Poachers killed 139 blackbucks between 2008-18, 108 arrested: RTI data

As many as 139 blackbucks have been killed by poachers in 10 years since 2008, with a maximum 31 in Madhya Pradesh, official figures obtained through the Right to Information (RTI) Act show. Madhya Pradesh is followed by Karnataka, where 25 blackbucks were killed during the period, while Uttar Pradesh follows closely with 24, according to the data shared by the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, which comes under the Ministry of Environment and Forests. SC irked over 'shoddy work' of registry officials, 'unruly' lawyers

The Supreme Court Monday expressed unhappiness over "unruly" behaviour of some lawyers and alleged shoddy work of registry officials in listing of urgent cases. Villages along river banks in Thane, Palghar get flood alert

Seventy-five villages situated along river banks in Palghar and Thane districts in Maharashtra have been put on alert as the water level of two major dams in the region are close to the overflow mark, a senior civic official said Monday. GST collection of states rises to Rs 5.18 lakh cr in FY19

GST collection of states and union territories (UTs) increased to Rs 5.18 lakh crore in the full financial year 2018-19, up from Rs 2.91 lakh crore collected in nine months of 2017-18, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said Monday. Besides, Centre has released Rs 81,177 crore compensation to states during 2018-19, as against Rs 48,178 crore during July-March period of 2017-18 fiscal.
