The government railway police have busted a racket of smuggling cannabis concealed in coconut shells and have seized over 100 kgs of the narcotics. Former prime minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Monday met P Chidambaram at Tihar Jail, and expressed concern over his continued detention in custody. Singh said he hoped the courts would render justice in Chidambaram's case. A militant of the NDFB (Songbijit) group was nabbed along with arms and ammunition by security forces in Assam's Kokrajhar district, a police officer said on Monday. The National Democratic Front of Boroland - Songbijit (NDFB-S) militant identified as Dipak Borgoyary alias B Dalaisa was apprehended by a joint team of Army and police from Laopani area near the Indo-Bhutan border on Sunday night, the officer said. Police recovered a 7.56 pistol along with five rounds of ammunition from Borgoyary's possession, he added.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said his government will implement the 'Mukhyamantri Street Light Yojana' under which 2.1 lakh street lights will be installed across the city to light up dark spots to strengthen women safety in the national capital. The three discoms will have the responsibility of installing them, he said. Each discom will install 70,000 street lights, the chief minister said.
