21 candidates file nominations for Karna bypolls

A total of 21 nominations have been filed till Wednesday for the October 21 bypolls to 15 assembly segments in Karnataka, as the three major political parties in the state are yet to announce their candidates. On Wednesday- the third day of filing of nominations, four candidates filed their papers. The Delhi government will soon initiate the process of constituting a Rs 50-crore advocate welfare fund, Law Minister Kailash Gahlot said on Wednesday. According to a statement issued by him,Gahlot said that Law Secretary Sanjay Aggarwal has issued a notification on Tuesday in the matter of Delhi Advocates' Welfare Fund (Amendment) Rules, 2019, without insisting on the lieutenant governor's approval. 2 brothers arrested in Ghaziabad with heroin worth Rs 2.5 cr

Two brothes have been arrested here with over one kg of heroin worth Rs 2.5 crore, police said on Wednesday. Acting on a tip-off, Sachin and Nitin were arrested from Vijay Nagar near old Ghaziabad railway station on Tuesday afternoon, Deputy Superintendent of Police Atish Kumar said. Youth assaulted at mall in Karnataka over 'communal' remark

A youth was assaulted by a group of students at a mall here on Wednesday for allegedly speaking in a provocative communal tone, police said. The youth, Manjunath from Bantwal, filed a complaint at the Pandeshwar police station and a case has been registered, they said. CBI officer Satish Dagar, who was probing the corruption case against the agency's former special director Rakesh Asthana, has applied for voluntary retirement, an official said on Wednesday. "Satish Dagar, SP, CBI has submitted application for voluntary retirement on personal grounds," CBI's spokesperson said. The CBI on October 15 last year had registered an FIR against Asthana for allegedly taking a bribe from an accused probed by him in return of ensuring relief and a clean chit in the case. CANADIAN COUNTY, Okla. – A man who bonded out of jail after being arrested for allegedly possessing child pornography was arrested again on an additional 35 counts.
