Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel was on Friday awarded six-month jail term by a court here for trespassing on the house of a realtor in an East Delhi colony in 2015. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal held Goel and four others -- Sumit Goyal, Hitesh Khanna, Atul Gupta and Balbir Singh -- guilty, saying the case against them was proved beyond reasonable doubts. Court upholds death sentence in minor's rape-murder case

The Uttarakhand High Court on Friday upheld the death sentence of a man convicted in a rape and murder case. A division bench of the high court comprising justices Alok Singh and Ravindra Maithani upheld the verdict of the district court in the case, handing capital punishment to Akhtar Ali for raping and murdering a four-year-old girl in 2014. Ali, a truck driver, had raped and murdered the child after abducting her from a wedding ceremony. The body of the victim was later recovered from the riverside.

Louisiana could become first state without access to abortion

The Supreme Court will consider a challenge to Louisiana's so-called Unsafe Abortion Protection Act. The decision could end abortion services at Louisiana's last remaining clinics.
