Trump announces phase-one China trade deal, calls off Dec. 15 tariffs

President Donald Trump said Friday the U.S. and China have agreed to a phase-one trade deal, and announced tariffs scheduled for Dec. 15 on Chinese goods have been called off. Trump said Beijing had agreed to "massive" purchases of U.S. agricultural and other goods but did not give a specific number. In a tweet Trump said on existing tariffs some Chinese products would remain and that new discussions on a second deal would begin immediately. U.S. stocks were trading little changed Friday.
