Mercedes-Benz is delaying the US release of its Tesla rival by a year

  • Mercedes-Benz is delaying the US release of its electric EQC SUV from the first quarter of 2020 to 2021, Automotive News' Urvaksh Karkaria first reported.
  • The automaker reportedly announced the move in an email to US dealerships on December 13, saying it wanted to focus first on fulfilling strong demand for the EQC in Europe.
  • Dieter Zetsche, the former CEO of Mercedes-Benz's parent company, Daimler, said in February that the automaker would not be able to meet demand for the EQC in 2019, and likely not in 2020 either.

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a plea filed by some advocates seeking disciplinary action against police personnel who sat on protest after the lawyers-police clash at Tis Hazari court complex and asked them to approach the Delhi High Court for relief. The top court said the high court is seized of the matter and had passed several orders in the matter. Reliance, BP sign pact to set up petrol pumps under Jio-BP brand

Reliance Industries and British energy giant BP plc on Monday signed a partnership agreement to jointly grow the Indian firm's network of petrol pumps to 5,500 from current 1,400, the companies said. "BP and RIL signed a definitive agreement relating to the formation of their new Indian fuels and mobility joint venture. This follows the initial heads of agreement signed in August this year," a statement said.
