Dual Brother Eagle Scouts Give Back to Alma Mater

CLEARFIELD – Boy Scouts Troop 9 of Clearfield has a dual brother Eagle Court of Honor for the first time in over 30-plus years.

For his Eagle Scout project, Kenny Starr placed new wall mats in the Glynn Hall gymnasium at St. Francis School, Clearfield. The original mats were from 1957 when the gymnasium was first built.

For his own project, brother, Harrison, placed a new eight-foot by 12-foot logo hanging. Their dual focus was safety and school spirit, while also giving back to their alma mater.

Kenny is a graduating senior at Dubois Central Catholic, and will be attending Pitt this fall to study neurology.  Harrison is a sophomore and also attending DCC.

With 17 Eagle Scouts on hand, the Starr brothers were joined by their proud parents, friends and family for a recent presentation at the school.  Also attending and representing the Boy Scouts of America Bucktail Council was Sheri Price.

Others present were Clearfield Mayor Jim Schell; Clearfield County Commissioners John A. Sobel and Tony Scotto; representative from State Rep. Tommy Sankey’s office and Eagle Scout Bill Armstrong; representative from Senator Wayne Langerholc Jr.’s office Andrea Schickling; and representative from U.S. Rep. and Eagle Scout Glenn “GT” Thompson’s office Brian Subitch.

Representing from the Bishop of Erie was his Excellency and the Most Rev. Lawrence T. Persico and from St. Francis Catholic Church of Clearfield was Father Brandon Kleckner.

Currently, the St. Francis School of Clearfield is celebrating its 125th anniversary.
