PM Oli asks what Chand’s outfit CPN really wants
Kathmandu, May 27
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today said those who set off bombs in the country were terrorists.
The Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal yesterday exploded bombs inside Kathmandu valley.
Addressing the 19th anniversary of National Human Rights Commission, Nepal, PM Oli asked the Chand group what their demands were. He also said those who didn’t want to see the country develop had been involved in these kinds of obstructions.
The government was criticised by lawmakers and people for not maintaining peace and security in the country.
Oli said the country had adopted the new constitution and held elections according to the constitution. He added that the government would stop those activities that caused disturbance in the country. He said the aim of the Chand-led group was to collect extortion money from the people. Commenting on the condition of human rights in the country, the PM said he would not allow human rights in the country to weaken.
Talking about the case of 13-year-old Nirmala Panta, who was raped and murdered, he said the government would find the culprit(s).
“Yes, there were some weaknesses on the part of police during the investigation, but it is also true that police were not allowed to investigate the case independently,” he said.
