Carlo Ancelotti rules out reported Man United target leaving Napoli
Carlo Ancelotti is adamant that reported Manchester United target Kalidou Koulibaly will remain at Old Trafford for another season.
The Red Devils have been regularly linked with a swoop to sign the Senegal international but a transfer deal has failed to materialise so far.
Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho was thought to have been a big admirer of the powerful centre-half, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to tackle the problem area in his Red Devils team this summer.
Koulibaly has established himself as one of the best defenders in Serie A over the past two or three seasons to help Napoli challenge Juventus in the Italian top flight.
Manchester United would presumably have to make Koulibaly the world’s most expensive defender if the Red Devils were to sign the African star given that he’s thought to have a transfer value of €150m (£132m).
Napoli manager Ancelotti was adamant that the Senegal defender will not be leaving the Serie A club in the summer transfer window.
“Koulibaly will remain in Naples in the next season,” Ancelotti told Radio Rai, as quoted by Metro.
Manchester United have struggled defensively over the past two or three seasons under Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Solskjaer.
The Red Devils slumped to a humiliating 2-0 loss to relegated Cardiff City in their final game of the Premier League season at Old Trafford.
