The Sensex and the Nifty sharply pared losses in mid-morning trade. At 11:28 IST, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, was down 2.98 points or 0.01% at 39,680.31. The Nifty 50 index was down 0.90 points or 0.01% at 11,923.85. Gains were, however, capped as profit booking emerged after recent steep gains.
