Brusbang Chepangs to be relocated
Dhading, May 27
The Chepang community in Brusbang village of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, Dhading, are to be relocated elsewhere.
According to Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality Chairperson Pitta Bahadur Dallakoti, the 36 Chepang families of Brusbang will be shifted to an integrated settlement near Talti in the rural municipality. “Since they were deprived of basic facilities such as, food, drinking water, education and health, they are being shifted to an integrated settlement,” he said.
Though the problem of the Brusbang families were known to all, nobody had taken any initiative to end their plight so far.
This time, however, lawmaker Bhoomi Prasad Tripathi, District Coordination Committee Chief Jagannath Nepal, Benighat Rorang RM chair Dallakoti and Ward No 2 Chairperson Tanka Bahadur Thapa, among others, reached the village and assured the villagers that they would be relocated.
After receiving a memo from the villagers regarding lack of basic facilities in the village, lawmaker Tripathi cited the huge expense required to ensure basic facilities in the village, and later floated an alternative plan to relocate them elsewhere. “As per the plan, we will have finished construction of an integrated settlement near Talti and shift the families there by mid-October,” said Dallakoti.
