Zhoghovurd: EU-Armenia deal 'mandates rapid reforms' in law enforcement bodies
With the roadmap underlying the EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) almost complete now and pending a final ratification, certain details have emerged over proposed changes dealing with the functioning of law enforcement authorities.
In particular, the European partners call for finalizing the reforms in the police and the judiciary until the end of this year, says the paper, citing its sources.
The police reforms necessitate, reportedly, the creation of a new model and the restructuring of the patrol service. Another reform, outlined in the roadmap, has to do with human rights and the judiciary, the paper says, adding that the document envisages also an increase in the number of judges until 2022.
