Man fighting for his life after being attacked by group armed with baseball bat

A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being attacked by a group of men armed with a baseball bat.

Police were called around 5.10pm on Monday to reports of an assault in Bethnal Green, east London.

The man was taken to hospital where the Met Police said he is a ‘critical condition.’

A crime scene remains in place on Globe Road and no arrests have yet been made.

A Met Police spokesman said: ‘Police were called at approximately 5.10pm on Monday May 27 to reports of a man assaulted in Globe Road, E1.

‘At this early stage it appears he was assaulted by a group of men armed with a bat.’
