Coronation Street spoilers: Norris Cole says a final goodbye to the cobbles as actor Malcolm Hebden leaves the show
CORONATION Street’s Norris Cole will say his final goodbye to the cobbles as actor Malcolm Hebden is set to leave the show.
Life on Coronation Street won’t be the same after next week which will see the much-loved character, who joined the soap in 1994, depart for good.
It’s the end of an era as Norris leaves friend and current wife Mary Taylor heartbroken when he reveals to her that he’s moving to Edinburgh to be with Freda Burgess and marry her.
Later, the locals organise a farewell party for Norris in the Rovers, but he causes concern when he doesn’t arrive.
Rita Tanner – who’s played by Barbara Knox – decides to track him down and finds him at home, in a tizzy, because he can’t find his Commonwealth Games medal.
With Rita’s help, he manages to find it and – with the medal proudly round his neck – Norris heads to the pub for his party.
As he catches up with friends old and new, Norris reminisces about his time living on Coronation Street.
It suddenly dawns on Norris just how much he’s going to miss everybody, so will he have a change of heart and decide to stay?
Corrie fans were thrilled earlier this month when Norris finally returned to the cobbles after a long leave of absence.
The popular character hadn’t been seen on screen since 2017 when actor Malcolm Hebden was forced to take extended leave after suffering a near-fatal heart attack.
Fans at home were relieved to see Norris back on the soap and took to Twitter to make their feelings known.
One said: “Nice to see Norris back on #CoronationStreet”.
Another wrote: “Aww Norris is back on coronation street my heart is whole!”
A third declared: “I have missed Norris #coronationstreet”
It was revealed back in November that Malcolm would be reprising his role as the Street’s resident busy body this year.
A source told the Sunday Mirror: “I was so pleasantly surprised to see him. It has been a long battle back to fitness but he looks better than I could have imagined.
“He looks really well, it is going to be great to have him back. The show has missed him. We’ve missed him.”

Malcolm, 78, previously spoke out about the heart attack, which almost killed him.
He said: “Fortunately I didn’t realise how bad it was. I was dying. The cardiac team simply saved my life.
“I was informed by my doctor I had had at least one heart attack.
“The heart attack tore a hole in my heart, they operated and took a chance.”
