UNION BERLIN fans went wild in the stadium as they celebrated their side’s first ever promotion to the Bundesliga.
Thousands of fans piled onto the pitch, lit flares and even lifted the players into the air to parade them around the ground.
The Kopenick-based club booked their spot in the German top-flight on away goals after a goalless draw at home to Stuttgart in the play-off final.
Wild celebrations commenced at the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei after the match ended on Monday evening.
Supporters were chanting and dancing on the pitch as the players treated themselves to a well-deserved beer.
Some of the players decided to spray their drink into the air, while manager Urs Fischer had one poured over his head.
As he held back the tears, he said: “The whole club did everything for this success.
“It was a great team performance, even if we had our problems in the first half. But I always believed we would manage it.”
Club sports chief Oliver Ruhnert said: “The team really this after such a season, but it was the toughest route they chose.
