Buhari reveals causes of poverty, insecurity in Nigeria, assures of tackling them

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that poverty and insecurity the country is experiencing were caused by decades of neglect and resource mismanagement.
The special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, said the president made the assertion while receiving the board of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated at the presidential villa, Abuja.
Legit.ng gathers that Adesina said Buhari remains committed to the goals of securing the country, inclusive economic growth and fighting corruption.

According to Buhari, Nigeria is in a unique position as the most populous and resource-rich nation on the African continent.
The president said that the resources would be harnessed and properly managed to engender a prosperous and peaceful country.
Adesina said: "The President said his government was not only determined to reverse the trend of squander-mania and mismanagement. We have made progress in some areas such as agriculture."
He said President Buhari commended Ecobank for being active in promoting financial inclusion because it is key to the government's diversification agenda.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that former governor of Abia state and senator-elect for Abia North senatorial district, said President Muhammadu Buhari's second term would be better, calling on Nigerians to sustain their support for the president.
Kalu, who made the call in a statement on Tuesday, May 28, by his special adviser, Kunle Oyewunmi, said Buhari's second term would be used to consolidate on the achievements of the first term.
According to the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the future of Nigeria is bright under the current administration.
Kalu urged the leadership of the APC to consider the people of the southeast for key appointments in all arms of government, adding that the ruling party had grown in the region.

He said: “As Nigeria records another feat with the swearing in of President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office as Nigeria’s President, I am optimistic that this historic milestone will translate into a better life for Nigerians."
