England star Trippier’s transfer to Napoli falls through as Italians decide Spurs ace is ‘too old’ at 28
KIERAN TRIPPIER will miss out on a summer move to Napoli – after the Italian switched targets to a younger right-back.
The Tottenham defender, 28, was dropped from England’s squad for the Nations League finals but a move to Serie A to get back on track is now unlikely.
Carlo Ancelotti’s team completed their season at the weekend and have been clear on their transfer targets this summer.
They want to bring a right-back to San Paolo Stadium but want a player with resale value further in his career.
A Napoli source said: “We will be pursuing a right back but will be going for a younger player, which is in line with the policy of the club.”
Trippier was a star of the World Cup last summer but his form has been mixed this season.

He has helped Spurs get to the Champions League final but by his own admission has suffered an indifferent campaign.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kyle Walker are now ahead of him in the pecking order for Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.
But his market value means Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is still likely to ask for £40million to get him this window.
