Meet the Love Island 2019 contestants – ITV has confirmed this year’s official line-up
SUMMER is around the corner and Love Island will be hitting our screens in a matter of days.
Fans of the show can’t wait to see what will go down in the famous villa. Here’s what we know about the contestants so far…
Who are the confirmed Love Island 2019 cast?
Love Island 2019 will kick off with seven boys and five girls when it returns to ITV2 next week (June 3, 2019).
Here are the special bunch who made the cut…
Curtis Pritchard
Strictly Come Dancing professional AJ Pritchard‘s younger brother, Curtis, was the first contestant to be confirmed before the full list was revealed.
Curtis signed up to the ITV2 show five months after he and 24-year-old AJ were battered by eight thugs in a Cheshire nightclub.
He says he’s lived a “sheltered life” because of his career as a dancer and his ex was his ballroom partner from the ages of 12 until 14.
Tommy Fury
Professional boxer Tyson Fury‘s 19-year-old brother, Tommy Fury, is also hoping to find love in the Spanish villa on this year’s show.
Tommy – who is also a professional boxer like his sibling – recently split from his previous girlfriend, and has received “a lot” of female attention now he is single.
Calling himself “a loyal guy down to the roots”, he likes a “confident girl but someone who is a bit shy.”
Amy Hart
Amy is a 26-year-old air hostess from Sussex.
While she doesn’t think she will be the best looking in the Love Island villa, Amy’s pretty confident she’ll have the best personality.
Amy hasn’t specified when or where, but some time before entering the Love Island villa, she met One Direction’s Liam while on a night out.
However, she says her weird crushes are David Walliams and Simon Cowell, saying: “You’d never go there obviously but there’s something about them.”
Firefighter Michael Griffiths thinks he has the whole package[/caption]
Michael Griffiths
Michael is a 26-year-old single male from Liverpool with a job that involves him saving lives.
Opening up about his career, he said: “I’m a hero! I’m a firefighter, who doesn’t want their own firefighter? Their own local hero.”
The 27-year-old rates himself a ten out of ten, adding: “I would have said nine but I’ m a hero so it bumps it up.”
Surfer Lucie Donlan is already a bit of a social media star in her own right[/caption]
Lucie Donlan
Lucie, 21, from Newquay, describes herself as different from the usual girls who go on the show saying: “I’m more into sports as well as being glam.”
Her celebrity crush is Instagram star Jay Alvarrez, however she has spent time with famous faces Joey Essex and Love Island’s Charlie Frederick.
The surfer from Cornwall already has a following on Instagram and is used to walking around in a bikini all day.
Gym owner Anton is all about staying in tip top shape[/caption]
Anton Danyluk
Anton is a gym owner from Scotland — and he’s pretty proud at the thought of being the first Scottish lad on the show.
He describes himself as funny, hard-working and motivated, however, he has a few bad traits too, including being moody and an over-thinker.
Citing Magot Robbie in The Wolf of Wall Street as his perfect girl, Anton would like to couple up with a blonde if possible.
Joe Garratt is hoping to find love in the villa – pictured with Anthony Joshua[/caption]
Joe Garratt
Joe is a 22-year-old catering company owner from South East London.
If you think you may have seen the new Love Islander before, you probably have as he used to be a semi-professional rugby player.
Joe, who is an office delivery ‘sandwich man’, has only had one girlfriend who he knew from his local area in south-east London.
Scientist Yewande Biala is ready to show the world that smart people can be great reality stars too[/caption]
Yewanda Biala
Irish scientist Yewande describes herself as “easy to get along with, funny and caring”.
It’s unlikely there’ll ever be an awkward silence with her in the villa as apparently, she talks so much “it gets me in trouble”.
The 23-year-old Dublin girl has been cheated on “multiple times” but has never done it back, insisting: “I’m very loyal.”
She hates arrogance, loves “good banter” and doesn’t rule out swiping someone else’s guy.
Callum MacLeod is ready to see what the island has to offer[/caption]
Callum Macleod
Callum is a 28-year-old aircraft engineer from South Wales.
He is keen to settle down, explaining: “I’m 28 now so time is ticking. I don’t want to be left on the shelf.”
Although Callum says he prefers blondes, his celebrity crush is Michelle Keegan.
Beauty therapist Amber is sure to be one of the most glam ladies in the villa[/caption]
Amber Gill
Amber describes herself as someone with a big personality that gets on really well with others.
The Geordie beauty therapist reckons she’s a ten out of ten – but “not in a cocky way”.
She knows former Islanders Adam Collard and Ellie Brown from going out in the Toon and says she would never use a dating app.
The 21-year-old has been cheated on “several times” but warns: “I’m not as naive as I was then.”
Sherif is a chef and a sportsman so he is hoping to do well with the ladies[/caption]
Sherif Lanre
Sherif is a 20-year-old chef and semi-professional rugby player from London.
When it comes to being faithful on the show, he insisted that was an “absolute must”.
He also explains that he can’t take anything seriously and has a “pretty ugly” laugh – so look forward to hearing that a lot.
Anna Vakili
Anna is a 28-year-old pharmacist from London — and she doesn’t consider herself your average Islander.
Earlier this year, Anna found herself on the news in Iran. Explaining just how it happened, she said the cameras started rolling “when my sister and I were away in Qatar with two Iranian footballers”.
The footballers in question have huge followings on social media, so the connection did wonders for her own personal Instagram account.
“Suddenly my followers went up by 20,000 and I started being tagged in fan pages!”
What has Caroline Flack said about season 5?
Via Instagram, Caroline Flack confirmed she will be returning for the fifth series this summer on Instagram, adding that she has yet to meet the new contenders.
She said: “What’s really exciting about this week is that we start filming for Love Island 2019.
“And by the end of the week, I’m going to have potentially have seen the cast for this year, which is really exciting.
“And mad that’s it’s come around this quick! So I’ll let you know what happens. It’s going to be a long, hot summer and all that.”
What’s changed in Love Island for 2019?
Love Island bosses are plotting some major shakeups for the 2019 show.
They are reportedly scrapping rival villa Casa Amor, which sparked explosive scenes for two years on the show.
Instead, this year ITV2 bosses want to keep new islanders on their toes.
They also want viewers to expect the unexpected, which involves creating all-new challenges for contestants.
The Love Island cast are also set to see their pay increase.
According to reports to “compensate” for giving up time to be on the show, ITV bosses have agreed to pay the islanders £250 a week.
That’s £50 a week more than 2018, who accepted £200 a week to cover their bills, rent and utilities while appearing on the show.
