Ex-Chelsea manager get becomes manager of top European club

- Andre Villas-Boas has become manager of popular Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille

- The 42-year-old signed a two-year contract after the Ligue 1 side came fifth last season

- Villas-Boas has previously managed in Portugal, England, Russia and China in the past

Andre Villas-Boas has be named as new manager of Olympique Marseille for the next two seasons.

The Portuguese gaffer who had previously managed Porto, Chelsea, Tottenham, Zenith St. Peterburg and Shanghai SIPG in the past, has been without job since 2017.

Former Marseille boss Rudi Garcia, finished the Ligue season in fifth position without making it to the continental stage next season and left on May 22.

Marseille CEO Jacques-Henri Eyraud said: "Andre Villas-Boas is a young and already very experienced coach. He has a perfect knowledge of the requirements of the highest level.

"We expect him to breathe new life into the group that he will be in charge of. We are convinced that his sharp vision of football and his sense of innovation will be major assets to enter a new cycle, which will allow our club to resume its progress."

Villas-Boas won the the UEFA Europa League in the 2010-11 season with FC Porto before replacing Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Japanese club, Vissel Kobe, has reportedly offered Arsene Wenger a two-and-a-half year contract to take over as manager.

Wenger has been out of job since quitting his role as manager with Arsenal in the summer of 2018.
