Reactions as pretty lady becomes South Africa's 1st black female combat pilot

South Africans were in awe of Major Mandisa Nomcebo Mfeka, the country's first black female combat pilot, who took to the skies during the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Legit.ng caught wind of an inspirational young woman who became the country's first black female combat pilot.

This past weekend, Major Mandisa Nomcebo Mfeka was one of several pilots who graced the skies during the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Mfeka joined the South African Air Force (SAAF) in 2008 and in 2011 she was awarded her wings. The historic pilot said she fell in love with planes at a young age after her mother and grandma took her to air shows at the Virginia Airport.

Social media was flooded with posts about the inspirational young pilot and we took a look at some of the messages in honour of Major Mfeka.

Muthiro Michael, who goes by the Twitter handle @MikeMuth, commented: "She is so amazing. Salute you Maj NM Mandisa. When I watched it on NBC and now seeing your face, I can't believe it.! U are real ready or had already stood up to defend your nation SA. The display was unique and excellent. Keep it up."
