Display of 'best before date' on non-packaged sweets must from June: FSSAI

From June, even local sweet shops will have to display the 'best before date' and 'date of manufacturing' on non-packaged or loose sweets kept in a container or tray for sale at their outlets. At present, it is mandatory to mention these details on labels of pre-packaged/pre-packed sweets. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a direction in this regard after reports of instances of sale of stale/expired sweets to consumers posing potential health hazards. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday visited Mahatma Gandhi's memorial in Rajghat and said violence will not benefit anyone as he called for restoration of peace in the national capital in the wake of violence in northeast Delhi, which claimed seven lives. Kejriwal visited Rajghat along with his MLAs. "Six civilians and one policemen have died. Violence will not benefit anyone. Joint body calls indefinite bandh in Kanchanpur subdivision

A joint body of six Mizo organizations and a local civil society group in North Tripura district has called for an indefinite bandh in Kanchanpur subdivision from Wednesday to press for their three point charter of demands. The demands include immediate resumption of relief to 93 displaced families in Anandabazar area under the sub- division.
