LEA3 proteins, a family of abiotic stress proteins, are defined by the presence of a tryptophan-containing motif, which we name the W-motif. We use Pfam LEA3 sequences to search the Phytozome database to create a W-motif definition and a LEA3 sequence dataset. A comprehensive analysis of these sequences revealed four N-terminal motifs, as well as two previously undiscovered C-terminal motifs that contain conserved acidic and hydrophobic residues. Understanding the dynamics of microphytobenthos biomass and photosynthetic performances in intertidal ecosystems will help advance our understanding of how trophic networks function in order to optimize ecological management and restoration projects. The main objective of this study was to investigate microphytobenthic biomass and photosynthetic performances as a function of the sedimentary and environmental variabilities in the range of intertidal... Uromyces appendiculatus is a major pathogen on common bean. Like other rust fungi, it uses effectors to influence its host plant. Effectors are assumed to possess characteristic expression profiles, reflecting their activity during the infection process. In order to determine expression profiles using RT-qPCR, stably expressed reference genes are necessary for normalization. These reference genes need to be tested. Using samples representing seven different developmental... Читать дальше...

BackgroundTo avoid a surge of demand on the healthcare system due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we must reduce transmission to individuals with chronic conditions who are at risk of severe illness with COVID-19. We aimed at understanding the perceptions, context and attitudes of individuals with chronic conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic to clarify their potential risk of infection.
MethodsA cross-sectional survey was nested in ComPaRe, an e-cohort of adults with chronic conditions... Читать дальше...

IntroductionThe heart rate (HR) method is a promising approach for evaluating oxygen uptake (V˙O2), energy demands and exercise intensities in different forms of physical activities. It would be valuable if the HR method, established on ergometer cycling, is interchangeable with other regular activities, such as level walking. This study therefore aimed to examine the interchangeability of the HR method when estimating... Читать дальше...

Due to the recent evolution of the COVID-19 outbreak, the scientific community is making efforts to analyse models for understanding the present situation and for predicting future scenarios. In this paper, we propose a forced Susceptible-Exposed-Infected-Recovered-Dead (fSEIRD) differential model for the analysis and forecast of the COVID-19 spread in Italian regions, using the data from the Italian Protezione Civile (Italian Civil Protection Department) from 24/02/2020.
