Crossrail delayed until 2022, while costs are set to rise still further

Railnews - The Crossrail board has heard confirmation that the central section of the line will not be opening next summer, and it has now been postponed until the first half of 2022. Costs have also risen again. Crossrail said: The latest cost estimate presented to the Board shows that the cost to complete the Crossrail project could be up to £1.1 billion above the Financing Package agreed in December 2018 (£450 million more than the upper end of the range announced in November 2019).

Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport - Vital rail and road upgrades that will create jobs, increase connectivity, and boost the economy will be delivered more quickly, thanks to the launch of a new Acceleration Unit announced by the Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.
