Arsenal make Donnarumma transfer enquiry with Unai Emery ‘not convinced Leno is good enough for highest level’ and Cech leaving

ARSENAL are reportedly looking to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma in the summer after approaching AC Milan about his availability.

The 20-year-old could be on his way out of the San Siro with the Rossoneri under pressure to shift players to comply with Financial Fair Play.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Gunners have made an enquiry to sign the goalkeeper as Unai Emery looks to replace the retiring Petr Cech.

The ex-Chelsea ace is set to face his former employers tomorrow night in Baku in the Europa League final, before potentially returning to West London to become the Blues’ sporting director.

While the Italian news outlet states that Emery is also vying to sign Donnarumma as he has been left unconvinced by Bernd Leno following his move from Bayer Leverkusen.

The German has put in a number of dazzling displays at the Emirates, but has been guilty of mistakes that cost Arsenal vital points as they failed to finish in the top four.

But the former Paris Saint-Germain gaffer is claimed to feel that Leno isn’t good enough to compete at the highest level, with Donnarumma identified as the long-term option.

It is understood that he will only leave should Milan receive an offer of around £62million.

And if the North Londoners qualify for the Champions League by beating Chelsea, the 6ft 5in shot-stopper could be tempted to jump ship and join Emery’s side.

Milan failed to qualify for Europe’s premier competition this season as they finished fifth in Serie A – one point behind rivals Inter in fourth.

Donnarumma – who is tied down in Italy until 2021 – featured in 36 out of the 38 top-flight matches, where he kept 13 clean sheets.

Manchester United have also been linked with his services should David De Gea depart Old Trafford at the end of the campaign.
