How girl’s 2,500 different ‘personalities’ helped snare monster dad who raped her for 10 years
A LITTLE girl’s 2,500 different “personalities” convict her monster dad who had been raping her for 10 years.
Jeni Haynes was first sexually abused when she was just four years old, and to cope, she created up thousands of different personalities to deal with the horrific torture.
The different personalities Jeni created allowed her to overcome the emotional and physical abuse she received from her monster dad.
She was protected by 2,500 different “alters” who would take over her body during the abuse.
Little Jeni was often abused at their family home in the Sydney suburbs.
When the abuse came to light and police conducted their investigations, Jeni’s “personalities” helped convict her rapist dad.
What is Dissociative Identity Disorder?
Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) is a complex psychological condition that is mostly caused by severe trauma during early childhood.
The condition was once viewed with disbelief – including by the psychiatric profession.
DID is extremely rare, and affects just two percent of the world’s population.
Due to their dissociations, or separation from their sense of self, a number of DID patients are likely to struggle with memory issues.
In about 90 percent of cases, there is a history of abuse in childhood, while other cases are linked to experiences of war or health problems during childhood.
Treatment generally involves supportive care and counselling.
The condition usually persists without treatment.
Psychiatrist Dr George Blair-West said it is now not only considered a genuine medical condition but an ingenious one.
He said: “There is nothing wrong with Jeni’s human mind or any other person who suffers from DID.
“Their mind is just coming up with an incredibly sophisticated, clever solution to a scenario that most of us could not begin to understand or relate to.
“The thing that seems to push the mind to do this more than anything else is realising you have no way out.
“Nobody’s there to save you, you’re on your own, and you have to come up with a solution that is entirely of your own.”
Dr Blair-West told 60 Minutes program that when children like Jeni are subjected to significant traumas prior to eight years old, they are able to split off parts of their mind into multiple personalities.
Jeni was able to provide police with incredibly detailed descriptions and recollection of the abuse.
She required major surgeries on her bowel, coccyx and anus to repair the physical damage caused by her dad.
In 2017 Haynes was extradited from the United Kingdom and charged with multiple counts of rape, buggery and indecent assault of his daughter, reported The Mirror.

The evidence in the case against Haynes would be too traumatic for a jury, so it was agreed for it to be heard by a judge alone.
Haynes initially pleaded not guilty to all charges, however after two hours of Jeni giving evidence as ‘Symphony’, one of her personalities, he changed his plea.
Richard Haynes will be sentenced for his horrific abuse on May 31.
