Kevin Durant expected to fly with team to Toronto
OAKLAND — The Warriors might not know when Kevin Durant will play in the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors. They have more clarity, though, on his travel itinerary.
Durant is expected to fly with the Warriors during their afternoon flight to Toronto scheduled for around 2 pm PT, Bay Area News Group Confirmed. Yahoo! Sports first reported the news.
The Warriors had already ruled Durant out for Game 1 on Thursday, which will mark his sixth consecutive playoff game he misses since straining his right calf in Game 5 against the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference semifinals on May 8. The Warriors have held out hope Durant can play in Game 2 on Sunday. The Warriors plan to reevaluate Durant on Wednesday, which would give clarity on if he can receive medical clearance for any on-court work. So far, Durant has only rehabbed in his right calf in the trainer’s room and in the weight room.
Even if Durant does not receive medical clearance for on-court work, the Warriors wanted him to be around the team for two reasons. Durant would rehab directly with Dr. Rick Celebrini, the Warriors’ director of sports medicine and performance. Durant would also be around the team during film sessions, meetings and other team-sanctioned events.
