Dow gives up gains, falls to session lows in Tuesday afternoon action
U.S. stock benchmarks Tuesday afternoon were trading at or near lows, having relinquished modest early gains, with investors still on edge over trade tensions with China. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 90 points, or 0.3%, at 25,500, but had touched a low at 25,495, weighed by losses in Goldman Sachs Group Inc. , while the S&P 500 index retreated by 0.4% at 2,816, and the technology-laden Nasdaq Composite Index was off 0.1% at 7,631. U.S. markets were closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day.
