I have fallen pregnant unexpectedly and financially we can’t afford to raise another child
DEAR DEIDRE: I AM in such a fix. I am 40 and married but my husband and I are dismayed that I am unexpectedly pregnant.
Financially, things will be very tight if I go ahead. My husband is 42 and works away a lot. Our home is very cramped and our six-year-old daughter has seizures and severe learning difficulties.
So far the doctors have been unable to find the right medication for her.
I feel so stressed. We also have a son of 15 months. The pregnancy is making me feel depressed and I feel guilty as I don’t think this is the right situation for another child.
My husband doesn’t think it is a good idea either, but I worry it is selfish of us to think about a termination.

DEIDRE SAYS: It is not at all selfish. Think how another baby would affect your children’s lives.
Talk more with your husband to be sure you are totally agreed on what is best on balance. Then get help immediately.
