MLB News: Phillies’ Herrera Arrested On Domestic Violence Charges
Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera was arrested and charged with Domestic Violence late last night, according to multiple reports. The Athletic’s Matt Gelb tweets that “Odúbel Herrera was arrested and charged with simple assault after a domestic violence incident on Monday at 8:33 p.m. at the Golden Nugget Casino in Atlantic City, according to a police report.”
Gelb then followed that up with “The victim, a 20 year old woman, ‘had visible signs of injury to her arms and neck that was sustained after being assaulted by her boyfriend,’ according to the report. She refused medical attention.”
Gelb would add that “Major League Baseball has placed Odúbel Herrera on administrative leave, according to a source. League officials are investigating Monday’s domestic violence incident.”
The Phillies released a statement, saying “This morning we were made aware of an alleged incident involving Odubel Herrera. Upon receiving this information, we immediately reported the incident to Major League Baseball, which has informed us that Herrera has been placed on Administrative Leave.”
Herrera has been a Phillie since 2015.
