Pinnacle Ridge, Sgurr nan Gillean
Pinnacle Ridge was high on the wish list for Claire and Steven this week so we bagged it today, making the most of a good forecast. Its always a cracking route with enough technical difficulty to remain interesting from bottom to top and some steep descents along the way too, one of which gives an exciting abseil. We had to feel sorry for the poor chap who joined us at the abseil station to realise he wasn’t on the route he had intended to be on and necessitating a return to the valley for him. We had some heavy snow showers through the day but they soon passed and didn’t affect the friction so only added to the atmosphere. The ridge itself leads to one of my favourite summits, a small table top with drops down on all sides making it feel like a proper mountain. We then descended the West Ridge, giving folks another opportunity to perfect their abseiling. Another great day!
