Scotland`s women lost their final match 3-1 to Poland at the EuroHockey Indoor Championships II in Ourense (Spain) this morning, but there was no disgrace in that. The Poles, one of the favourites for the tournament, are currently sixth in the FIH indoor rankings, 13 places above the Scots.

Defending champion India was stunned 0-2 by reigning Asian Games gold-medallist Japan in its second Pool A match of the Women's Asia Cup in Muscat on Sunday. Japan scored through Naga Yuri (2nd minute) and Saki Tanaka (42nd minute) to stun the Indians.

The Kenya women's hockey team Sunday clinched the bronze medal at the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations after edging Zimbabwe 3-1 a shoot-out in Accra, Ghana.
A super start from the Ghanaians to take an early lead was not enough as the South Africans surged to a wonderful come from behind victory to seal their 7th consecutive African Cup of Nations and have confirmed their qualification for the FIH Hockey World Cup as a result.
South Africa and Egypt faced off in the African Cup of Nations for the 6th consecutive time in Accra tonight. Both teams were desperate to secure qualification to the FIH Hockey World Cup, while for the South Africans a victory also offered a confirmed top 10 spot in the World Rankings ahead of the FIH Pro League.
Favourites South Africa men were taken to the wire as they won their eighth Africa Cup of Nations in a row to book a return to Bhubaneswar at the 2023 World Cup. In a thrilling final, Egypt were great value as they took world No 11 South Africa to a shoot-out before losing out 3-1.
