Hockey India on Saturday named 65 players for the upcoming junior men’s national camp to be held from February 14 to 25 at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre here.
Hockey has evolved over the decades and the way game is played has undergone significant changes. Hockey goalkeepers also have to adapt to the changing demands of the sport. For over close to four decades, the penalty stroke rule was in place for matches that end in a tie (penalty stroke rule was first introduced at the 1972 Munich Olympics in the 11th-place classification match when Poland defeated France). South Africa and Netherlands faced off for the second time in Potchefstroom for the FIH Pro League on Saturday Night. South Africa had been heavily defeated in the opening meeting between the two sides earlier in the week and were desperate to give a better account of themselves this time round.
France are considered one of the rapidly-improving sides in the world – many might have thought that perhaps they are an over-hyped side given their listless 0-5 defeat to India in the first encounter. Les Blues showed against the Netherlands in their next game why they are talked about so highly as they held the Dutch 2-2 in regulation time before going down in the penalty shootout.
India's lacklustre performance can be summed up from the fact that they earned as many as 10 penalty corners but failed to find the back of the net.

France stunned men's Olympic bronze medallists India to clinch a first victory of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League season, earning a comfortable 5-2 win to avenge a midweek defeat against the same side.
It was an exciting day of Pro League action as the No. 13 world ranked France toppled the No. 3-ranked Indian side in an exciting 5-2 game in South Africa. While the France defence were outstanding, it was the firing offence that put on a show. India struggled to convert on penalty corners and could only tally from the stroke mark.
