Last week, researchers at the University of Melbourne announced that thylacines or Tasmanian tigers, the Australian marsupial predators extinct since the 1930s, could one day be ushered back to life.

The thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus), also known as the ‘Tasmanian tiger’ (it was neither Tasmanian, because it was once common in mainland Australia, nor was it related to the tiger), went extinct in Tasmania in the 1930s from persecution by farmers and habitat loss. MFA step up drive to attract more girls to play football

A total of 686 girls across Malta have managed to kickstart a lifelong love of football through a ground-breaking Playmakers football programme from UEFA and Disney.  The first phase of the UEFA Playmakers programme has just finished, and 30 different groups participated.  Groups vary from Girl guides, state schools, private and church schools, Malta and Gozitan football clubs.  The programme is being co-ordinated by the Malta FA’s Women Department which falls under the Inħobb il-Futbol Foundation. Low levels of overseas business travel and tourists coming to Britain have kept Heathrow's passenger numbers at just over half of pre-pandemic volumes. Only 2.9 million people went through Heathrow in February, compared to 5.4 million in February 2019 - the month before the World Health Organisation declared the Covid-19 outbreak to be a pandemic. This was despite the US lifting a 20-month international travel ban on non-US residents and citizens flying to the country, which lead to a surge in travel between the UK and the US.
