India are making a good habit of scoring last-minute goals to win games in regulation time. Harmanpreet Singh and Mandeep Singh performed last-minute stunts against Spain and Argentina. But they have also been guilty of frittering away winning positions, conceding goals in the dying moments and forcing the contest into a shootout. Fortunately, the Amit Rohidas-captained Indian outfit finished the shootout on a strong note, thanks to a standout shootout performance from Krishan Pathak, enabling the hosts to win 3-2. India could well rue losing a point rather than winning two after a dramatic shootout victory over a battling England in the FIH Pro League encounter at the Kalinga Stadium on Saturday. The home side led 3-2 with a minute to go but conceded a penalty stroke which was converted by Sam Ward to make it 3-3 and take the match into the tie-breaker.

England earned a point after a quite breathtaking FIH Hockey Pro League game away to India.

India’s men claimed a thrilling win in a penalty shoot-out against England after the two sides had shared six goals in the latest men’s match in the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Pro League in Bhubaneswar.

A tense shoot-out following a frantic end to the regular period, saw Indian men come away with a bonus point in their match against the English. A real up and down battle saw the lead change hands thrice and thrice the trailing team equalised, the last of which saw England score from a Penalty Stroke with mere 12 seconds left to play. Much like the game the shoot-out also saw multiple opportunities for both teams to get the win and India finally did, on the 7th shoot-out attempt.
