Pakistan’s Tayyab Ikram has become the new head of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) after defeating Belgium’s Marc Coudron in the Presidential election.

Lausanne, Switzerland: Tayyab Ikram (MAC) was elected as new President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) today by the FIH Congress. Of the 126 votes submitted by the member National Associations, Tayyab Ikram attained the required absolute majority of more than half the votes, receiving 79 votes to the 47 given to Marc Coudron (BEL). India will look to produce another attacking display and finish their Bhubaneswar leg on a high when they take on Spain in their reverse fixture of the FIH Hockey Pro League.

The New Zealand men earned the first points of their season with the bonus point coming in a shootout after a 1-1 draw with Spain. Dominic Dixon made some big stops to deny all Spain attempts in the shootouts and,ultimately, secure the bonus point. Over in Mendoza, the Leonas blasted past the German women, 4-2, in front of packed stands thanks to two goals from Maria Jose Granatto.
