Webb’s infrared image highlights the planet’s dramatic rings and dynamic atmosphere. Following in the footsteps of the Neptune image released in 2022, the NASA/ESA/CSA James Webb Space Telescope has taken a stunning image of the solar system’s other ice giant, the planet Uranus. The new image features dramatic rings as well as bright features in the planet’s atmosphere.

Eukaryotes are endowed with sophisticated innate immune systems to recognize non-self and halt pathogen proliferation. Activation of cell death at the site of attempted pathogen ingress is a common strategy used by plants and animals to restrict pathogen proliferation and trigger immune responses in the surrounding tissues. As such, immunogenic cell death shares several features in both plants and animals that will be discussed in this article, namely... Читать дальше...

This paper studies the debt restructuring equilibrium decision problem composed of creditors and debt enterprises with the participation of the government and asset management companies. With the differential game, the dynamic optimization models of debt restructuring under three situations: centralized decision-making, decentralized decision-making, and Stackelberg game after introducing cost-sharing contract are constructed, respectively. The optimal equilibrium strategy of debt restructuring... Читать дальше...

Investigations from past earthquakes have shown that underground subway stations can suffer excessive deformation under strong seismic loads, leading to the damage of critical components and the collapse of structures. This study presents the results of finite element analyses on the seismic damage of underground subway stations installed under different soil constraint conditions. The plastic hinge distribution and damage characteristics... Читать дальше...

Bite force can be a limiting factor in foraging and can significantly affect the competitive ability and lifetime fitness of mammals. Tamiasciurus squirrels feed primarily on conifer seeds and have a strong bite force to mechanically extract seeds from conifer cones with their mouths. In the North Cascades region, Douglas squirrels (Tamiasciurus douglasii) and red squirrels (T. hudsonicus) occupy ecologically different forests with different hardnesses in conifer cones. Public perceptions of the determinants of mental illness have important implications for attitudes and stigma, but minimal previous research has explored how causal attributions are spontaneously invoked in everyday public discourse. This study investigated how causal explanations for mental illness are disseminated in popular Irish news media, in the two years before and after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Keyword searches of a news media database... Читать дальше...
