After losing national party tag, CPI plans to fight Karnataka polls on its 'ears of corn and sickle' symbol
The Communist Party of India (CPI) has decided to contest in the Karnataka election with its 'ears of corn and sickle' symbol, after losing its national party status. The CPI has been using the same symbol in all general elections since 1952. The party will have to seek permission from the Election Commission to use the same symbol in a state where it is not recognised.
