A gang in the hinterland is making full use of the element of surprise. The gang comprises well-dressed women, wearing make-up and on the lookout for victims to dupe and loot in villages. After a few cases were reported in Ferozepur district, police in other districts have been alerted.
Registration for admission to undergraduate courses in the colleges ended on Sunday. Students registered themselves on the centralised admission portal, “admission.punjab.gov.in” for undergraduate courses in colleges. The process started on May 15.
Now, any further power shutdown request by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will be carefully considered by the department before granting it approval, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) engineer-in-chief, Ludhiana, Inderpal Singh said.

Former President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday said that there was a time when textile of Kanpur was famous even abroad. “Even Queen Elizabeth was very fond of towels made here. However, the sad thing is that cloth mills have closed. But I had a conversation with people’s representatives and officers for the closed mills here and have asked them to find some solution,” said the former President while taking part as a chief guest at the centenary year celebrations to mark the completion of 100 years of Kanpur Textiles Committee.
