Ted Cruz and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez agree on something. Really.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has come out in favor of lifetime lobbying bans for former congressmembers.
Her Thursday tweet on the subject wasn't too shocking, seeing as Ocasio-Cortez took a scathing dive into the schmoozy reality of cooperate lobbying just a few weeks ago. What's surprising is that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) actually agrees with her.
Here’s something I don’t say often: on this point, I AGREE with @AOC Indeed, I have long called for a LIFETIME BAN on former Members of Congress becoming lobbyists. The Swamp would hate it, but perhaps a chance for some bipartisan cooperation? https://t.co/jPW0xkH2Yy

Cruz is one of the most conservative federal lawmakers out there, voting with President Trump 100 percent of the time so far this congress. Ocasio-Cortez, meanwhile, swings far to the left. But considering Cruz generally has a problem with anyone — namely senators — spending too much time holding influence in Washington, his take holds up. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has also proposed a bill banning elected officials from turning to lobbying, so perhaps this odd couple could add another unexpected voice to the mix.
