Stochastic dynamical analysis for the complex infectious disease model driven by multisource noises

Plos.org

by Liqiong Jian, Xinyu Bai, Shaojuan Ma

This paper mainly studies the dynamical behavior of the infectious disease model affected by white noise and Lévy noise. First, a stochastic model of infectious disease with secondary vaccination affected by noises is established. Besides, the existence and uniqueness of the global positive solution for the stochastic model are proved based on stochastic differential equations and Lyapunov function, then the asymptotic behavior of the disease-free equilibrium point is studied. Virulome analysis of Escherichia coli ST117 from bovine sources identifies similarities and differences with strains isolated from other food animals

Plos.org

by Bradd J. Haley, Serajus Salaheen, Seon Woo Kim, Jo Ann Van Kessel

Escherichia coli ST117 is a pandemic extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC) causing significant morbidity globally. Poultry are a known reservoir of this pathogen, but the characteristics of ST117 strains from other animal sources have not been adequately investigated. Here we characterize the genomes of 36 ST117 strains recovered primarily from preweaned dairy calves, but also from older postweaned calves and lactating cows... Читать дальше...

A unifying model that explains the origins of human inverted copy number variants

Plos.org

by Bonita J. Brewer, Maitreya J. Dunham, M. K. Raghuraman

With the release of the telomere-to-telomere human genome sequence and the availability of both long-read sequencing and optical genome mapping techniques, the identification of copy number variants (CNVs) and other structural variants is providing new insights into human genetic disease. Different mechanisms have been proposed to account for the novel junctions in these complex architectures, including aberrant forms of DNA replication... Читать дальше...

Harnessing the flexibility of neural networks to predict dynamic theoretical parameters underlying human choice behavior

Plos.org

by Yoav Ger, Eliya Nachmani, Lior Wolf, Nitzan Shahar

Reinforcement learning (RL) models are used extensively to study human behavior. These rely on normative models of behavior and stress interpretability over predictive capabilities. More recently, neural network models have emerged as a descriptive modeling paradigm that is capable of high predictive power yet with limited interpretability. Here, we seek to augment the expressiveness of theoretical RL models with the high flexibility and predictive power of neural networks. Читать дальше...

Quantifying the distribution of feature values over data represented in arbitrary dimensional spaces

Plos.org

by Enrique R. Sebastian, Julio Esparza, Liset M. de la Prida

Identifying the structured distribution (or lack thereof) of a given feature over a point cloud is a general research question. In the neuroscience field, this problem arises while investigating representations over neural manifolds (e.g., spatial coding), in the analysis of neurophysiological signals (e.g., sensory coding) or in anatomical image segmentation. We introduce the Structure Index (SI) as a directed graph-based metric... Читать дальше...
