Shared input to a population of neurons induces noise correlations, which can decrease the information carried by a population activity. Inhibitory feedback in recurrent neural networks can reduce the noise correlations and thus increase the information carried by the population activity. Objective

Radiofrequency ablation is a viable option in the treatment of benign thyroid nodules. Some reports suggest that thermal ablation may also be safe for the management of low-risk thyroid cancer. In this study, we applied transient heat treatment to thyroid cancer cells to mimic clinical scenarios in which insufficient ablation leads to incomplete eradication of thyroid cancer.

Over the last 40 years, applied mathematicians and physicists have proposed a number of mathematical models that produce structures exhibiting a fractal dimension. This work has coincided with the discovery that objects with fractal dimension are relatively common in the natural and human-produced worlds. One particularly successful model of fractal growth is the diffusion limited aggregation (DLA) model, a model as notable for its simplicity as for its complex and varied behavior. Читать дальше...
