This project was developed for a couple of clients who have been working with our office for several years, this being our third project together. As a young couple, the idea was to have a large social area to entertain friends but also allow parallel uses, avoiding one activity impacting the other. Located in the countryside of São Paulo, the region is very hot in the summer, so the defined proposal was to explore natural lighting and protect areas facing West (the most exposed facade to the sun in the southern hemisphere). Data visualization plays a vital role in modern scientific communication across diverse domains, shaping the understanding of complex information through color choices. However, the significance of color palette selection goes beyond aesthetics and scientific communication, encompassing accessibility for all, especially individuals with color vision deficiencies. To address this challenge, we introduce "Color Quest," an intuitive Shiny app that empowers users to explore color... Читать дальше...

Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) is becoming a disruptive trend in healthcare, allowing for transparency and interpretability of autonomous decision-making. In this study, we present an innovative application of a rule-based classification model to identify the main causes of chronic cough-related quality of life (QoL) impairment in a cohort of asthmatic patients. The proposed approach first involves the design of... Читать дальше...

How do voters react to an ongoing natural threat? Do voters sanction or reward incumbents even when incumbents cannot be held accountable because an unforeseeable natural disaster is unfolding? We address this question by investigating voters’ reactions to the early spread of COVID-19 in the 2020 French municipal elections. Using a novel, fine-grained measure of the circulation of the virus based on excess-mortality data... Читать дальше...

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an immune-related disease and the relationship between MS and cancer has raised attention. Previous studies of the relationship between MS and cancer have reached conflicting conclusions. In this study, the two-sample MR method is used to investigate whether MS has a causal correlation with cancers and offer scientific evidence for cancer prevention. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) related to MS were obtained... Читать дальше...

Many proteins in higher eukaryotes, especially those with crucial functions, have multiple isoforms with redundant roles providing protection against potential functional deficiencies in one isoform. However, these isoforms can also have some unique roles. Protein kinase B, also known as Akt, is one such protein that has three isoforms encoded on different genes. Due to high sequence similarity and the general lack of specific reagents... Читать дальше...

This article investigates how teleworking adoption influenced the labor market and workforce dynamic using bibliometric methods to overview 86 years of teleworking research [1936–2022]. By grouping the retrieved articles available on the Web of Science (WOS) core collection database, we revealed a holistic and topical view of teleworking literature using clustering and visualization techniques. Our results reflect the situation where the adoption of teleworking... Читать дальше...

This paper presents a novel approach to addressing the challenges associated with energy storage capacity allocation in high-permeability wind and solar distribution networks. The proposed method is a two-phase distributed robust energy storage capacity allocation method, which aims to regulate the stochasticity and volatility of net energy output. Firstly, an energy storage capacity allocation model is established, which considers... Читать дальше...

COVID-19 vaccines, currently available to children over six months old, are a powerful method of reducing the risk of COVID-19-related hospitalizations and death. However, vaccination rates among Hispanic children remain suboptimal, primarily due to parental vaccine hesitancy. Health communication researchers have suggested using culturally aligned storytelling to reduce vaccine hesitancy; however, few studies have evaluated this... Читать дальше...
