Jacob DeGrom Leaves Early With Tweaked Hip

Jacob deGrom left Saturday night’s game in the seventh inning due what appeared to be a hip tweak.

However, Steve Gelbs of SNY says that deGrom was more upset about having to be pulled in the seventh inning than he was about the injury, which is a good sign.

DeGrom, 30, took the hill against Zack Greinke and outdueled him going 6 2/3 innings while allowing only one run, five hits, and one walk. He also struck out seven batters before Jeurys Familia came in to replace him.

The team’s ace lowered his season ERA to 3.49 for the 2019 season, being caught by Tomas Nido for the third straight game.
