Chelsea consider England assistant Steve Holland as possible replacement for Maurizio Sarri along with Frank Lampard

CHELSEA are reportedly eyeing up a potential move for their former assistant manager Steve Holland should Maurizio Sarri leave in the summer.

The 49-year-old – who is currently Gareth Southgate’s assistant at England – spent seven years as the Blues‘ No2 between 2011-2017.

He worked under the likes of Andre Villas-Boas, Roberto Di Matteo, Rafa Benitez, Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink and Antonio Conte.

While he was also the manager of Chelsea’s reserve side from 2009-2011 where he helped them win the Premier Reserve League.

Holland left in 2017 to work full-time with Southgate and the Three Lions, where his tactical nous saw England reach the World Cup semi-finals, as well as progression into the Nations League finals.

According to the Daily Mail, the West London club are considering him as a possible candidate for Sarri, who is expected to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

It has been claimed that Chelsea have agreed to let the Italian join Juventus after holding talks with the ex-Napoli gaffer’s agent.

The Old Lady are on the lookout for a new manager after parting ways with Massimiliano Allgeri after Juve crashed out of the Champions League quarter-finals at the hands of Ajax.

While it is understood that Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck spoke with Juve chief Andrea Agnello about Sarri ahead of the Europa League final – which the Blues won.

Fan favourite Frank Lampard is another contender should Sarri leave after impressing in his first season as Derby boss.

Lampard remains the bookmakers’ favourite for the job, while Patrick Vieira, Nuno Espirito Santo and Allegri are all in the running.
