Chrome Schwinn ID help
I was so excited about my 9:00 AM appointment to pick this bike up that I woke up at 4:50 this morning. Price was $30, but I shrewdly negotiated the price up to $35. Seller acquired the bike from-her high school boyfriend in the 1970's. What she knows about the bike is that the original owner was a bike shop proprietor, and that she was told that the bike as never painted and was always chrome. She was told it was chrome-moly. She said she rode it many miles for many years. It looks like it was ridden hard but well cared for, as evidenced by the barcons still having the little domed locknuts. That fork crown is chrome, Jerome. Weineman Vanquier centerpulls, Schwinn Approved Suntour barcons with white lever covers, DA crank, Brooks (can't tell if is labeled Brooks or Schwinn), Titlest FD, Suntour RD, 5 speed racing freewheel. I know the barcons and suicide brake levers were available as optional dealer installed upgrades The headbadge is missing, but the rivet holes are at 3:00 and 9:00 O 'Clock , like a World Voyageur I have. Based on the above and the serial number it seems to be a Panasonic-made Schwinn from 1972. So what is it? I have not weighed it yet or checked the seat tube size. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
