Dominic Smith Scratched Sunday with Thumb Soreness

Mets’ first baseman/outfielder, Dominic Smith, was scratched from the starting lineup Sunday with right thumb soreness.

Smith, 24 this month, was slated to bat second and start in left field in Sunday’s series finale with the Diamondbacks.

So far in 2019, Smith has been worth 1.2 bWAR and has a triple slash of .362/.471/.534 with two home runs.

The Mets say Smith will be available off the bench Sunday. Aaron Altherr took his spot in left field.
